Use this LP7910-2 scale kit to build your own scale at a fraction of the cost of a brand new platform scale. You can build your own platform or simply install the cells under a squeeze chute.

You will have to install this yourself. You will have to setup the weight indicator. You will have to calibrate the system. This is popular scale equipment that many scale manufacturers and dealers use for various projects. If you search online you will likely see cheaper versions of livestock build your own hog pig cattle etc... scale kits but they use cheaper components and a lot of plastic components like the j-box and indicator. We don't feel that is what is needed. However, we feel this LP7910 system is one of the overall best scale kits available when you compare value versus quality.

Why do we feel this system on this page is better? The indicator is much better, the load cells are NTEP, and the junction box is stainless steel. That is why we recommend the LP7910-2.  Either of the kits we've mentioned do not include a platform. We suggest you use something fairly solid such as steel instead of wood.

Frequently Asked Questions

Question: What is the weather or water rating of these scales? If it is not water resistant water proof...what are suggested options for this? Most people that will be putting this on a cattle chute will not have this in an indoor area.

Answer: This is a basic entry level scale components kit. It's a great scale kit that could possibly do well in this type of environment but it has its limits. The scale components like the load cells, feet, bolts etc... can generally handle some elements but they will likely rust. The two components to focus on are the j-box and the weight indicator. We would recommend mounting the j-box in an area where it can be away from water as much as possible. The basic digital weight indicator is stainless steel but it has no offical IP rating so it needs to be placed in an area where it is away from water and rain.
