Policies & Procedures

RETURNS
All our items either ship from our warehouse or from the supplier. They are in perfect working condition when they ship out. We will be happy to exchange, refund, or credit any return you have as long as the scale is in the same condition as it was shipped in. (Including original packing and box with no damage or writing). All returns must be within 10 days of purchase, must be in original packaging, and in new condition. A 10 to 30 percent re-stocking fee will be charged on all items due to credit card processing fees, supplier restocking fees, and / or handling fees. Shipping and handling charges are nonrefundable.

We do not accept returns on test weights or consumable items such as printer ribbons and labels.

Please note that many of our products ship for "free", but if they are returned our actual shipping costs will still be deducted from the refund.

If your order falls within the 10 day window, please contact us (using the form linked below) before returning any item to receive return authorization number. Please send returns to the address we specify. Failure to follow the procedure may result in additional fees or refusal of delivery.

CANCELATION
If you place an order with us and then decide afterwards that you wish to cancel (as long as your order hasn't already shipped), you may do so but there will be a $25 administrative and processing fee that will be charged. Also if the item is being built or calibrated by the manufacturer they may also charge a fee which you would be responsible for. We hate to add this to our list of policies but several customers this year have put us (and our suppliers) through a lot of work only to cancel their order at the last minute. These last minute cancelations may not matter to giant businesses but when you are a small business, this can really set you back. So please if you have questions, email us and we can answer your questions before ordering. Then you can make an intelligent buying decision. If you have a specific delivery date that you must achieve, let us know ahead of time. In our experience, asking questions and communicating delivery date requirements can virtually eliminate this policy from being a factor.

PRICING
Due to fluctuating steel market, fuel costs etc... prices are subject to change at any given time.

SALES TAX
Sales tax will be added to the order total for our North Carolina Customers. Also, please take note that many of our vendors are now being required to charge sales tax for items dropshipped to certain states. So, you may be contacted and/or billed after your order is placed for sales tax charges or need to supply a state sales tax exemption certificate. Please note, this is not our idea, this is being forced on us by suppliers, who are being audited by certain states and being forced to charge sales tax by individual states. In addition, please note that if we don't have an obligation to collect state sales tax in your state, often you must self report use tax on your purchase(s).

SHIPPING
1800 SCALES.com usually ships UPS Ground or Motor Freight (depending on size/weight of packages). In some cases, we do offer UPS 2 Day expedited shipping. We do not ship to APO/FPO. We do occasionally ship USPS and to PO Boxes via USPS, but most basic shipping is done via UPS or FedEx depending on the supplier. Calibration Weights ordered with certificates, usually take at least 4 business days before shipping to you. On some large weight orders, shipping totals will be "officially" calculated at the factory, prior to shipping. "Shipping Included" or "Free Shipping" offers, refer to continental US customers only. Contact us for freight quotes to HI, AK, or Canada. Please check your address to insure it is correct prior to submitting. There is a $16 charge by UPS for any address changes or data entered incorrect once the package has shipped. The shipping carriers also charge us to correct addresses that are wrong (even slightly wrong) so please double check your shipping address.

International orders and orders to Alaska and Hawaii are subject to an extra charge for shipping due to the extra cost of shipping to those destinations

Note: Many times delivery drivers will leave packages on the front porch, in the garage, at the front door, etc... and never get a signature. If you're concerned that your package could be stolen before you are able to retrieve it, you need to mention that at the time of order so that we can request that the delivery driver must get a signature before leaving the item. This will incur a slight increase in freight bill but could be well worth it. Or, you can have the item shipped where you know it will be signed for. Otherwise, if your item is delivered and then stolen, we are not responsible for that and you will have to work with your local police and/or the delivery company to try and find your item.

Freight Collect -- we make every attempt to honor your wishes and ship collect and charge the freight to your account number if that is what you wish. However, sometimes that is either not possible or freight charges end up being prepaid and added to your bill. Also, believe it or not, we're human and we might actually miss seeing it on a purchase order as well. In the event you request freight collect shipping and the charges end up being added to your bill instead, you are STILL responsible for the shipping costs and YOU WILL BE BILLED. We can not absorb your shipping charges since you still received the product(s). So when placing orders, please realize this is our policy and act accordingly.

Motor Freight -- Larger items such as floor scales, or large quantities of weights are delivered via motor freight and require delivery to a business with either a loading dock or fork lift. You will be responsible for any additional charges if large or heavy items are shipped motor freight to areas that do not have these.

Undelivered / Refused Shipments -- In the event you order an item, it is shipped, and then can not be delivered or is refused, unless the reason is an error on our end, you will be responsible for any additional costs incurred to ship your item to you.

PAYMENT OPTIONS
We accept Visa, Discover, American Express, and Mastercard. You can also place an order by mailing a check or money order to us. Please contact us for the correct location to send your check. If you choose to pay by check or money order it will take several weeks longer, please keep this in mind.

Be sure to include items/capacities/models you require along with phone number and ship to address, or we will not be able to process the order. Don't forget to add shipping costs and tax if applicable.

CALIBRATION
99.99% of the time your new scale comes to you factory calibrated. If you feel that you need to have it calibrated or wish to have it calibrated at your facility, you will need to call your local scale dealer to calibrate the item. Normally, this will cost you an hourly rate plus mileage. In some cases, you can take the scale to your local scale dealer. However, it is not a good idea for you to try to calibrate the scale yourself. The reason is simple. Scale technicians have experience calibrating scale systems and have certified test weights. (Please note, balances like Ohaus Adventurer Pro with internal calibration weights can be calibrated by end users) Most scales however do not feature this.

If your scale arrives factory calibrated does this mean it will be 100% accurate when you receive it? No. Many factors contribute to a scale being accurate. A scale can be weighing perfectly at our location and not weigh perfect at your location. This can be due to a number of factors such as gravity and abuse during shipping / transit time. This is the case no matter where you purchase an item. It is always a good idea to have your local scale company calibrate and install your scale.
